The Imrooz has always believed in and actively supported socially responsible initiatives. One of Imrooz’s Directors was one of the founding members of ‘The Citizens Foundation’ (TCF), Pakistan’s largest not for profit organisation, in the field of education, formed in 1995 - for provision of quality education in areas where there is access to none. Imrooz actively contributes to the growth and development of TCF’s school network which currently encompasses 910 school units in the country and employs around 9,500 staff members.
Imrooz has also taken a keen interest in, and played the major role in the development and setting up of the
Collective Organization for Music Rights in Pakistan (COMP), Pakistan’s first Performing Rights Society in collaboration with the Intellectual Property Organisation (IPO) under the guidance of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO).
This organisation is being set up to collect royalty from the users of music (Radio Stations, TV Stations, Business Establishments etc.) and to distribute it amongst the composers, writers and performers of that music.
Collective management organizations are an important link between creators and users of copyrighted works (such as broadcast media) because they ensure that, as owners of rights, creators receive payment for the use of their works.
Imrooz, under copyright act of 1961, and in collaboration with Intellectual Property Organization of Pakistan (IPO-PK) and International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers (CISAC) took the initiative to setup THE COLLECTIVE ORGANIZATION FOR MUSIC (RIGHTS) IN PAKISTAN in 2011. COMP will be Pakistan’s Copyright collection society undertaking collective rights management for musical works.
